catalytic converter casing corroded

Looking underneath the car, the lower half of the casing of one of the forward boxes of my exhaust/catalytic converter was hanging down! I had not noticed it when driving, I've just wired it up to stop it catching a speed bump. Does anyone know what my repair/replacement options might be? R reg 2.3 ultima.

If it's just the heat shield don't worry about it - it wont affect the functioning of the cat - in fact, replacement cats don't have heat shields. You might want to make a more durable repair though - something like a big jubilee clip - to stop it falling off and catching something on the underside of the car on it's way past.

Thanks for the replies. It's just the heat shield, I will wire it up with slightly more care, all the rst of the system seems fine on further inspection.
