My car starts with the lever in all positions, not just P or N. Underneath the lever I found a switch which controls an alarm when the door opens and the lever is not in P. Should this swich also control the starting, or should the transmission range sensor do that? The car is a 2.9 12V.

trol. There is an inhibitor switch screwed into the nearside of the transmission in a near vertical plane. To access it you need a gynaecologist or take the gearbox back mount down to get your hand in. GOZZ.
