Hi guys, went down south yesterday:

firtsly we drove in my friends car (vectra 1.8ls estate)

and on way down, driving was fine till we came off motorway, the clutch went to the floor.!! no gears  at all..
we let car cool down for 20 mins or so and hey gears again...this continued to happen on way back home each time we came upon an exit or junction..

my question is : could this be the release bearing? or is the gearbox just about gubbed..

my friend had a recon gearbox and new cluth done last year.

thnx guys ..regards mick..

ps..on the bright side : we got some gr8 bargains at nottingham/newark fishing event sale.. Grin..

Does sound like a sticking release bearing but its a Vauxhall, the only real cure is to burn it! Wink

hi all.

Turns out the release bearing went on it, and that the replacment g/box was out of a diff car!!!..
For replacement clutch and gearbox was over £300.
Because the repair cost too much and he's buying another car next week.

  cheers mick.
