Problems with the alarm system

I have just got a 2.3 Ultima estate and the alarm has been going off intermittently. It will be OK for a few days then go off 2 or 3 times during the night. The alarm stops after a short while but each time I go to the car when this happens the lights are still flashing. Can any one tell me if the lights stop flashing after a certain time, i.e. could the alarm have gone off over night when its parked round the corner and by the time I come to it there is no evidence that it has gone off. Does anyone have any idea what I could do to resolve the problem Any help would be appreciated. Ian Wallace

The only thing that springs to mind if you have the sensors on the door pillars and say a fury dice on the mirror ? Left a window / sun roof open ? Battery a bit low ?
