Calipers are fixed to the hub carrier with 2 bolts, 17mm head I think.

I sure you can remove flexi's without removing calipers.

I'd detach calipers. Just because its lots easier to detach pipe by turning caliper with other hand and hold pipe with other hand.

Yep you can replace them with the calipers in situ.
