Sorry lads still having problem with car, got a new battery after the locking problem (still wont lock) have been driving it and kept fingers crossed. Anyway went birmingham (50 mile) drove fine on way, left car for 2hrs started home and the overdrive light started flashing and kept sort of jumping into gear (not smooth running) then it didnt go into top gear , all of a sudden it clicked in. Garage had it for 2 wks then told me to get an ec unit? Not sure what to do. Thanks

I doubt it's the ECU playing up, especially if the engine is running fine Not sure whether you know the garage/mechanic very well.....But to have the car for 2 weeks & come back with an answer like that.... sounds like they really are a bit clueless & just guessing at what the problem is Assuming that the oil is in good condition & the level is fine, then I think a diagnosis from an autobox specialist is your best course of action

Dont think its the gearbox as when i went out in it this morning the overdrive light flashes and noticed steering goes stiff (no power steering) i thnk. Then the gears starts clunking doesnt go into 4th gear. All this started before the problem of the alarm, being locked out etc. Having replaced battery seems like back at the beginning but i dont lock car now.

| Yep that's what it does! Flashing O/D light is telling you there's a problem with the gearbox. on Feb 21st, 2010, 7:05pm, ALAN wrote:| Dont think its the gearbox |
| 'Fraid it is, according to the faults listing info elsewhere a flashing O/D can only mean gearbox problem. Don't think it does it for any other reason. But I'm still assuming it's an auto at this stage?
