Have recently noticed the brightness of my lights is not stable - so I deduce irregular voltage regulation.
Am I about to have an alternator failure? The brightness is dimming up and down slightly, at a frequency of about 50 cycles a minute. Throbbing, you might say. It is noticeable when I'm behind a car in stationary traffic. When the revs rise it is steady again, I think.

Any advice on how to check alternator/voltage reg?
