I have sold my car and the guy is coming to pick it up in the next couple of hours and unfortunately after letting the fuel run low.(display showing 20 miles and of course alarm let me know this I popped over the garage and put £10.00 of fuel in but alas alarm still on and still displays 20 miles with alarm sound, my guess is that the float is stuck am I right in assuming this and will it put itself right after more fuel is put in, and if not what would be your advice, sorry its short notice but if anyone is reading this a quick reply would be very welcome. Cheers Kenboy

Don't have the definitive answer Ken but I suspect that if you put MORE fuel in the gauge will resume normal operation and lights will be extinguished( hopefully) but I have NEVER come across this one before. I would NOT think the float would stick in the low position. There is nothing for it to catch on.

Hi Problem solved what happens is at 50 the alarm indicates fuel is low, fill up all ok but if you let it go to thirty then another alarm sounds Final warning I guess,.What happens now is after putting fuel in at this stage the alarm will go off but at the same time low mileage indicator slowly climbs back up to 50, its at this stage that the system puts itself right I have to admit I was worried for a time but I have learned something else for the forum to use btw this is the first time it has been this low. and thanks Dave for your quick response I have told the guy to join this forum he will in the next day or so introduce himself.. Cheers Kenboy

Hi its shows up quite clearly on the instrument panel at the same time as the audible and petrol pump symbol come on, well at least it did on mine. I have been asked to explain this on a How To Do Things section of which I will later on. Cheers Kenboy

Mine is similar as in when I put in a tenner when it's on quarter of a tank it won't show straight away....It takes a while. But I've found that when this does happen, if you undo the petrol cap & then do it back up again (release pressure), then the guage will show the tenners worth straight away Apologies if this doesn't make any sense....I've just come out of hospital this morning after my knee op & am pretty drugged up on co-codamol ....
