Insurance question

Hi all. We scratched a Mk3 Mondeo a few weeks back, a tiny amount of damage. We were reversing out and touched the door mold. A 4 inch scratch on our back bumper. The owner was very annoying and was adamant he wanted to go through insurance. So that's all sorted, we have had a phone call and because we are not claiming for ours we pay nothing. Might go up in monthly payments but not point moaning about it now. They said we do nothing now and they sort it out. Fine sorted but the estate is starting to get a little untidy now as it is a workhorse with 177k miles now, little scratches here and there, the front bumper is cracked and the sills need doing. The arches are starting to go too. So are we ok to sell the estate whilst the insurance is sorting the Mondeo out? Thanks Dan

As you are not claiming for the damage to your car I see no reason why you can not sell it. I would say that it might be a good idea to take some pictures of the damage to your car before you sell it just incase the mondeo owner says you wrote his car off. Andy

As you were at fault, it will be a claim against your insurance. I would think your mums no claims bonus will be affected, may drop to 20/30%, unless you have protected it.

I believe a study showed if you have a claim against you it will cost you a extra £50 a year for the next 5 years on your insurance premiums even if your no claims bonus is protected.
