Many moons ago - 1988 to be precise - I bought a Mk2 Granada estate from a chap in Shenfield, Essex near Brentwood - it was the ultra rare 2.8i Sport model with black trim instead of chrome, Recaro seats, sports suspension, white alloy wheels and manual gearbox - on my way home I saw 3 or 4 others in the area...I owned the car for a good 10 years and only ever saw a handful more. I was told the model was a poor seller, very few were made [ It was more expensive than the Ghia version ] and so many made their way into the hands of Ford management...obviously quite a few from the Brentwood area as it is near Dagenham.
We all know Ford had trouble shifting the Scorpio - did something similar happen with them
