Are the early Teves IV units and the later mk 20 units interchangeable ?

ps I seem to remember reading somewhere that a faulty module can give a fault code for the right rear wheel sensor/wiring even though that is ok. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\not sure whether it was connected with a motor circuit fault. Does anyone recall this? Been unable to find it.
pps seen pictures of Teves mk 20- looks as though the pipe layout is different

Not interchangeable although presumably wiring & plumbing could be adapted but as you're after a TC unit as far as I know the Scorpio never had a Teves 20 unit fitted with traction control.
I believe even late Scorpio's have the IV fitted if they have traction control.
I'm not aware of fault specifically relating to the RR sensor.
A dodgy solder joint in the controller is possible for any of the wheel sensor pins & would give a misleading code just like the motor circuit one but it doesn't seem to be common.
What codes are you getting with yours.

the only remaining code isC1165 speed wheel sensor right rear input circuit. My auto-electrician says a new sensor made no difference so he ran new wiring from the sensor to the multi-plug. Still the same although he was able to re-set once but the code recurred. he is going to road test it tomorrow to see how it goes. says he has pinned out the plug and it checks out ok so we wonder if it is a fault in the controller.

Has your man tried cleaning the sensor ring? Sometimes dirt/rust will collect on the teeth of the ring causing issues. Simple way is to insert a piece of emery cloth in by the sensor and slowly turn the wheel. Might work?.

Check the multiplug connector on the ABS unit for signs of corrosion on the pins - could be a bad connection.

C1165 is the code you get for example with a disconnected sensor. To pass the static test it only requires the 2 pins for the relevant sensor to be shorted at the controller (no need to have the sensor connected).
It's possible with the MK IV you don't have to clear the codes.
With the Teves 20 I would need to:
Short the pins for the relevant wheel sensor
Turn on the ignition
Clear the code
Turn off the ignition
Turn on ignition, if the code hasn't returned the fault isn't the controller.
New wire should be twisted pair, probably not important for the static test, I have no idea what effect non twisted might have when driven.

No, the trouble he's having at the moment is that he can't clear the code with his scanner although initially it did clear but subsequently came back and now won't reset. it is of course a Teves mk IV with T/C.

Once the faults are gone the light will go out on the rolling test. Although desirable it isn't necessary to clear the codes.
