LCD on 7000 series radio not working!!

Hi I am buying a Scorpio in the next week. It's a facelift Ultima but the LCD screen does not work on the 7000 series radio. Can this be repaired and if so, at what cost? If not, what sort of price is it for a new head unit? If too expensive, I can install a single DIN height Sony minidisc headunit with a 10 cd changer in the boot. Anyone knnow if the Sony head units are compatible with remote stalk already fitted as standard in the car. If not, is there a conversion lead available

Hi, This does seem to happen occasionally - mine did it once, seems the button 'pen' can get a bit upset by damp! Mine gradually came back to life after a while of keeping nice and warm (aaarr cotton wool and Fords are meant for each other!!) Maybe you will be lucky! Cheers Daven PS One on Ebay 3085425686 £51 - 10 hours to go (at 11.30am 23/3)
