Hi all! Have recently bought 2.3 Ultima, stripping down to give good Waxoyl etc, and rebuild over next few months...read somewhere on this site that can paint headlamps black, having removed lamps and taken lens/reflectors off on wiping reflector area (part of lens) gently the chrome finish is coming straight off...so should i be considering painting this area or will it effect lighting? Thanks

The bit you're on about is crucial to the headlight operation as it reflects the light. Don't quote me but i think it'll fail an mot if you paint them. Guy.

You can paint the reflector bonded to the glass lens but not the one behind the headlamp bulbs. The paint does come off easily, mine nearly suffered the same fate. Regards, Bruce.

Try Ford parts.uk for the facelift lenses about £50 each.
