If you have read my last post ,my scorpio was vandalised last week .All weekend I have been fitting a new lock /latch and door handle .I finished it this afternoon and everthing seems to work .My question is ,if you push the inside door handle in on the drivers side ,it locks all the doors ,pull it out it unlocks all the doors .Should this work on the passenger side (which is the side of have been working on )if it does I have missed something but as yet cant see what as everything else works . thanks in advance for any help .

The passenger side inside door handle locks/unlocks all doors on mine, but I suppose there could be variations? Dave

Thanks folks ,I will pull it to pieces again and see if I can put it right .It can only be something minor because if I push in the drivers handle the passenger handle goes in as well .but if I push in the passenger handle ...Nothing must be electrics ?

It's a couple of years now so I don't remember exactly...( )...but on mine, there was a microswitch somewhere in the door lock assembly which used to play up sometimes. Most likely a switch which senses when you push the lever which isn't working for some reason

Have a look at THIS page. Scroll down to the picture showing the lock mechanism and click on it to enlarge it. The 'electrics' surrounding the lock are shown there which may help. I seem to recall that the plastic can crack.

thanks for that Simmo, I did look at this page and hoped it would tell me something about the latch .But it did not ,the metal part of the latch is connected to a white plastic unit with 2 screws and it is a real problem getting them back together because you must make sure that you get the cable from the inside door handle connected correctly .Maybe I should of taken pictures in case anyone else has this problem. A plastic piece near the end of the cable must fit into a slide while at the same time making sure the cable end stays in its place inside the latch .When I get time to take it apart again I will take some pics and post them ....regards david
