fuse 47 battery drain

Please help
i bought a 24v scorp a few months ago (fixed quite a few things using this site THANKS)but now have a battery drain about 7A had an auto electrician look at it alternater was ok so he said start by changing the fuse box bought a new one from fords fitted it but still have the battery drain but it has seemed to have fixed the slightly rough engine idle & rough running at low speeds  so i messed about myself and found by pulling fuse 47 abs the drain stopped has anyone had a simler problem or got any ideas all help greatly appricated

could be the wiring between fuse and abs unit shorting and causing the drain disconect plug on the abs unit fit fuse and test for drain

If it was a short the fuse/wiring would be toast.
Fuse 47 feeds the ABS control module so mabye there's a fault in the module electronics causing a high current draw, is quite common in consumer electronic gear with power ICs.

Assuming your ABS works fine then check the wiring to make sure no previously fitted 'gadgets' are leeching off it - 7A is quite a lot of power for electronics to sink so if it was the ABS unit itself the ECU on it would be quite hot. Of course, it could be related to the TCS which ties in with the ABS system...

Thanks for all your help so far and darren funny you should mention the TCS when i test drove the car after fitting the fuse box i did notice the TCS light was on and wouldn`t switch off but thought i will get to that one next any ideas how to isolate this to test

Thought id just give you an update put fuse 47 back in to check drain again first only 4.5A this time  anyway disconected both leads to the abs module still got the 4.5A drain so replaced the leads checked again  drain had dissapeared removed leads again to oil pluged back in BACK AGAIN so i gave the cables that lead to the large multiplug a wiggle gone again  so i think it looks like its the loom does anyone know if the large abs multiplug is part of the fuel shut off loom or is it part of the main loom Thanks Craig

Check the securing bolt on the multiplug is nice and tight (not too tight but more than finger-tight) - otherwise you might get strange problems. Incidentally, the ABS light will be lit if the multiplug is removed - there's a clever metal clip which grounds the light unless the plug is connected...

Well its been a long and expensive trip and still not there yet but I think I’ve found it, the battery drain kept turning back up and then the brake light fuse kept blowing every time the pedal was pushed so I gave it to a mechanic to sort out (didn't trust the first auto electrician who looked at it) got the car back after a couple of days the only way he could cure it was to remove the plug that goes to the abs sensor that’s on the brake pedal and that only lasted a short while then it blew again then I was advised to take it to someone else who if he couldn’t fix it no one can so off I went (without my car)to see THE MAN the conversation went a bit like this I explained briefly what was a the wrong with the car and that I had changed the fuse box, what fuse box he said ,passenger side ,id start by changing the other one, and that was it HE HAD SPOKEN, so off I went to like a lamb to the slaughter to fords to buy the other fuse box (and yes I still cant believe I done it) 10 days later it turns up so Saturday I fitted it and yes exactly the same, so I decided to get on with it and try to find it myself, and how the car hadn't turned into a blazing inferno I don't know, I followed the wiring back from the abs multiplug down to the inner wheel arch undone the tape and found a bundle of bare wires tangled together and did I mention the sparks  (time to disconnect the battery ) so after a bit of evaluating ive decided to see it through and should be picking that part of the loom up this week along with the fuel cut off loom (both second hand but good) well thanks for letting me share that with you I feel a bit better now(but would still kick myself up the arse if I could) and thanks again for all the GOOD advice on this site and does anyone know where to get a good heat resistant tape in black to go round the loom before I refit it ,Thanks Craig

Its been interesting reading your updates.
I know there hasn't been too much advice here - its all been your own work pretty much. But I think thats due to the fact that many of us just don't know
I have a wierd battery drain myself, but can find nothing wrong, and have no other strange symptoms.
Fancy fixing mine... after you've disconnected the battery!

i had a battery drain over night i changed the big relay under the water bottel,and 2 wires were found to been rubbed bair under the wing flich thingy ,all sorted now ,also re built the engine wiring loom coz ford maid them quite crap ,ive used heaver wire and more protection,on them..good look,,
