Hi
now I seem to have mechanical protection the comp test came out at 200psi for all 4 cylinders, the dreaded electrics confront me.

where can I get an obd2 interface, cos the new fuel cut off loom crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor and uncle tom cobbly and all, might need resetting.

now I am too intrigued to drop it but I do not want to bleed money.

I have now 4 coilpacks, is there any way to test them?

how can one check elctronic ignition timing?

most grateful for any help

thanks in advance

Best place for advice on the scanning part of it is over on the  OBD Advice section Wink

Not too sure about the coilpacks but you can do some basic tests with a multimeter, check the resistance of the coils and see if they're all similar, also check for any cracks/heat damage on the casings. That's all I do when I test mains transformers, if the coils are intact then it'll work.

HT leads can be funny, just a continuity check doesn't mean they're working, they can get leaky or develop breaks in the core and still register something. May be worth doing some checks with the meter on your new loom as this is where your problem started, could all be down to something simple like a damaged connector...

What area are you, surely it would be quicker to get someone local to come and scan it.  Also remember OBD II software wont do as much as say my Snap On Scanner and Software, and equally this isnt as good as say FDS2000 or later !!!  It all depends how much you want to spend on software and leads etc, but OBD wont generally access things like Transmission, ABS, Airbag / Seatbelt, Keycoding and other non emission related faults.
I am in Dartford Kent area and will happily scan it for you if you cover my travelling exes.  Dont know if this is any help, depends how local you are.

Hi,  Even if a plug fires at atmospheric pressure, once it is in the cylinder with good compression there is then a significant load on it, so could be a duff lead.  Have you swapped it with another cylinder to see if the missfire changes cylinders ?  Also are you sure the Injector plug is on properly as this cylinder may be sparking but getting no fuel ? ?  Regards Dave

hi
initially shining a torch inside the pot showed moisture on 3 cylinder, and vapour came out so i guess the injectors are allowing fuel into the manifold!

still need a scan I guess

thanks
