Perhaps check the wheels first? Buckled or flat spots can give a vibration.

Propshaft imbalance, centre bearing shot or the rubber doughnut breaking up ? Loose wheel nuts ? ( yep, it do happen ) Rear wheel bearing breaking up ? Or it could be the dreaded Cattle Grid Syndrome. top gear at 35 mph ? are you sure ? O/D should only kick in at at around 50mph.

Get a slight rumbling in mine at 38-42mph in 3rd and 50-54 mph in o/d, only if I press the throttle and knocking it down a gear takes it away completely, been there since I've owned it and never got any worse, I just live with it, normally keep it out of o/d until 60 anyway Checked most other things (indeed had most other parts of the car replaced )), I know it's a propshaft bearing or something, assumed it'd be replaced along with the gearbox but no such luck Bruce.

Before trying anything else, clean the MAF. It cured my 16v.

I've always had a small vibration ( Ooooer ! ) at about 40-55 mph , I'm figuring it's the propshaft centre bearing or the propshaft/diff bolts been re-fitted wrongly in the past . As it ain't got any worse in 2 years and 22 000 miles, I'll just leave well alone.
