Hi all
went to close the boot lid this morning but it just bounced back open. It looks like the boot catch/lock as gone a when I push the lock mech up it does not engage.
Can the lock be repaired or is it a new one?
Rang Ford for a price and they are telling me the only 1 they have listed is for manual locking and not central!!

Any ideas??

Many Thanks

Could possibly be a stuck button. Check if the lock barrel button can be moved freely.

Be a lot cheaper  to find  a good  one  from a scrappy.

Although the lock assembly is only held on by 4 bolts  it's a  tad tricky to remove what with all the linkages  and  you're also working  above your head ,  so it's a bit awkward.

Sure it's not the striker plate? Had this slip down twice on the Mondeo, end up having to slam it harder and harder until one day it just won't play ball.

My Granada suffered occaisionaly from moisture ingress flowing in along the lock button, on to the switch, where upon it would short out the switch enough to unlock it then it would be difficult to get it to latch. It would also false trigger the alarm when it was set.

Mine does this occasionally, often happens when the striker pin is loose - causes the electric opener to fire again.

To stop it happening tighten up the striker pin by the time honoured method of electrical tape.

Then open the boot, fire the remote watch the catch open and wait for it to fully return and slam it hard.

Works on mine anyway.

Cheers
