My 2.9 12 valve is poorly, it conked out on the way to work the other day. The AA couldent restart it and towed it to my Mechanic. My Mechanic managed to start it but it died within 50 Yards of the Garage when I picked it up, any Ideas?

Quite possibly your fuel gauge may be faulty, and you've run out of fuel.
Agree with Snoopy. Also check your HT lead from the coil to the centre of the distributor. If that's damaged or broken, then it won't start.
Take the top off your distributor, and get someone to turn the engine over. Does the rotor arm turn? If not, the Distributor is damaged.
Difficult to diagnose without more information.  Wink
