Hi ther just boght a scorpio 2.9i ghia with a few problems i have almost repaired everething...only got some problems witk the front fogs. I have checkt all fuses and licht bulbs they are ok. checked the light switch that is ok to. Even checked relais R9 wasnt ok but repaired it now if i push the contact from R9 "in" the fogs will light on. So the problem has to be in the steering cercuit from R9. If i look at the whiring diagram i see an relais that sould be behind the dash ----->dash removed cant fint a ralais Does anyone know exacly wher this relais is situated and does anyone know what this relais should do. The whiering digram cals it an fog cut off ralais Sorry for the poor english i tryed my best.

Hi there, & welcome to the site Not quite sure what you mean when you say "problem has to be in the steering circuit from R9" ? R9 is the fog light relay & if you said you repaired it but it only works when you push it, then it must still have a fault ....do the rear fog lamps work OK ? Have you tried replacing the relay with a new one to see if the fog lamps will work ?

hi there just a thought. you have the correct light switch? the one with the 2 pull out positions? first one is for the front fogs, 2nd is for both front and rear fog lights. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook016.gif hth

http://www.carsoft.ru/avtorepair/sierra/foglamps.pdf this is the site where they show the wireing. K26 is the R9 relais dont ask me why they have give it an other name probbelly because its an russian site. K105 is the "cut off relais"that i am looking for. I guess that should be R35 folloing the handbook

Remove R9 and check for 12V across the two small contacts in the fusebox when the fog lights are supposed to be on. Does the front fog-lamps green LED light up next to the switch like it should? If it doesn't then the switch may be faulty. If it does then either there is no negative to the relay coil or the switched +12V isn't reaching it. You already know that the fog-lamp wiring from the relay is good. Darren P.S. The above is true for UK cars - yours may be different if outside of UK. Ignition and headlamps will both probably have to be on for the front fog-lamps to work.

nope the green led doesn't light up. one time i disconected the switch and when i "hotwired" it the led come on it could mean ther is something wrong with the switch. thanks i am going look at it right now.

Hi. So what you're saying is that if you close the contacts on the relay the fogs come on but the headlamp switch isn't putting voltage to the relay coil? Just trying to work out where your problem might be

Fear not Is yours a UK model? Knowing what country you're in will make it easier for people to help you as the wiring is different. These diagrams confuse me too, I don't think the 'cut off' relay was fitted to UK cars, seems to be something fitted to cars sold in the Netherlands and Switzerland? Diagram 32-07-004 shows the switch wiring for cars sold in countries with the cut-off relays. Diagram 32-07-005 shows the switch wiring for other cars including UK models, which don't have the cut-off relay. Look at diagram 32-07-006, this shows the input to the front fog relay, K26 is indeed relay 9 in the central fusebox. If the LED on the switch isn't coming on either you've got no voltage getting to the switch (unlikely as you say the rears work) or a bad contact inside the switch. Would also be worth turning the fogs on, removing relay 9 in the fusebox and checking whether you're getting 12V to the coil terminals in the fusebox. If no 12v, check the earth connection is intact. Then go back to the switch and check you've got 12v getting to the switch through the violet/black wire and 12 coming out of the switch through the violet wire. If 12v going in and nothing coming out, you've got a faulty switch. Hope this helps some. Regards, Bruce.

After reading the manuel carfully i think the front fogs aren't supose to work when the headlights are on. So i tryed everything that i did already again with the switch turnt only once to the right.........coil from R9 is broken. So i put in some other relay....and now its working again. I guess the cut off means to cutt of the fogs when the headlamps are coming on!!! Well i will thank everyone who has helped me with this problem. and is there someone who can tell me how i can suport this site?

If you look at the top of the screen you will see a 'Paypal' link. Click on that and you will be able to donate a sum of money to the site if that is what you wish to do.
