Ouch - I've been cut off.

Hi,
I was on site last night around 1030 (as Pegasus-2, my home link) when I noticed some strange things:
first the forum list suddenly showed no users and no guests  then I popped up with some others then all of a sudden I've been downgraded to "Guest" status. 
Tried relogging on but it says my username is not recognised.
How? Why? Help. Can someone let me in please?
