Just bought my first Scorpio (2.9 12v Ghia Estate) , I love it! Couple of odd things I've noticed which I hope someone can advise: Sometimes when I turn off the ignition and open the door a alarm/buzzer sounds....also sometimes when I open the door to get in too. Doesn't always do it but not sure what I can be doing. All 4 doors have lights on their opening edge but none of them ever come on, even when the headlights are on....any ideas? Thanks

Hello and welcome The alarm sounds if you open the drivers' door when the car is in gear, sometimes if the selector isn't latched fully in park or neutral it'll sound although the car is really out of gear. There's a switch on the selector mechanism if it bugs you that much, not sure how easy it is to replace though. With the door lamps, I know some cars didn't actually have the electrics fitted even though the lenses are there. Best way to check is to get a small flat bladed screwdriver and lever one out and see if there's a bulb inside. Not sure if the Ghia had the door marker lamps though. Hope this helps, Bruce.

Faulty tr switch , Looking for the link now. Are you sure that they are lights in the doors and not reflectors.

Many thanks for your replies. You were absoultely right about the alarm/buzzer being due to the auto shift not being quite in properly. I see now how easy it is not to get this quite in position.....thanks, it's been driving me mad as it has not happened all the time! Think you are probably right about the reflectors, I've read a few more threads. I will check at the weekend but I guess I don't have lights......shame!

The parking position is normaly quite positive. If the trim has been taken off the lower fixing plate can be miss-positioned and this can holds the lever just back a little. Release the screws and ease it forward. Worked for me when I had to take the dash out.
